The Zigbee Alliance ( http://www.zigbee.org ) was established in August 2001. In the second half of 2002, the four giants of British Invensys, Japan's Mitsubishi Electric, American Motorola and Dutch Philips Semiconductors jointly announced that they would join the "Zigbee Alliance" to develop the next-generation wireless communication standard called "Zigbee".
